Story and video from KWCH

Go to the story and video,

For the do family, school starts Monday. Hai Do and his wife, Vanessa Nguyen stocked up on all their supplies a couple of weeks ago.

Nguyen says, "We prepared before strike. We knew, we think maybe everybody strike so we prepared before to be ready."

That's right, Do and Nguyen are both on strike from their machinists jobs at Hawker Beechcraft. "We did for the future of my kids and for my life," Do said.

The couple has worked for the company 12 years. Much of Nguyen's family works in aviation in Wichita. So she says she knows what their benefits could be.

Better benefits and more money are at the heart of the fight and keeping do, Nguyen and thousands others on the picket line.

*snip*

The parents hope this time without an income pays off to last them through the school year and beyond.

The family says people in the union are a big help. The machinists are working to provide food, school supplies, any support they can offer.

This is what it's all about, people standing together and helping each other! Families like the Dos are what it's all about.
